A Week at the Firth Spa & Resort

I am back from a week at the Firth Spa & Resort, um.....working in Utah. When I go to Utah, I stay at Ralph and Kathryn's and they treat me like a King. It is so much better than a hotel (king sized bed, cool basement, no lines, great food and I get to see everyone). Unfortunately the cold I brought back from Utah a week earlier went with me to Salt Lake City. Ralph was getting it while I was there and now Amy has it also. Did I tell you that on Friday morning when I was getting ready to leave, Ralph and Kathryn had eggs, French Toast, fresh fruit and bacon for me??? Life is good at the Firth Spa (though a little hard on the waist line)!

While in Utah, I got to help Dave get Kirk up and running on his new BlackBerry. I got to see Colton's JV football game (Never seen a football game played on a field with no lines) and got to hang out with Anders, Jackson and Megan and her new boy Baxter (he is going to be a lot of Dog). I also got to see the "Thing" they took out of Melissa - YUCK! Unfortunately I was one week early so I won't get to be there on Wednesday went Britton gets his Mission Call.

The Friday before I left for UT, Mary and I attended Patrick's first Guitar recital. It was very good. He played Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. He did great. I went to load the video I took of Patrick playing and found out that Patrick deleted it by mistake.......Amy and Elli did not get to attend because they were cleaning up after Elli's 8th Birthday Party, which she held with her friend Alden at Alden's house. Alden and Elli share the same Birthday.

This week Patrick turns 14 on the 1st. He got a couple of books, a couple of games for the Wii and a new guitar strap. We will also go to breakfast at the Iowa Cafe on Wednesday morning.

Mary has her first piano recital on Oct. 3rd. Then on the 10th, Mary will turn 11. She will be joined this year by Ralph, Kathryn and Megan. They will be here for Elli's Baptism, which is on Saturday October 11th.

As you all know the mortgage finance industry is in a bit of a mess. As a result, Amy is in a bit of transition. Her current company is evaluating their options for going forward and as a result, so is Amy. Lucky, given her stature in the industry, she has many options. Some other good news is she sold her investment property in Whittman, which is a big weight off her shoulders.

Hope all is well. Keep John & Michelle in your prayers.

Oodles of Odles

So, I would write a long entry but just check out my Sister-In-Laws Blog - Oodlesofoldes.blogspot.com (or just click the link on the right) to see what has been going on with the Harrigan's! It has been a busy, but very blessed end of summer.

Coming up are birthday's for all three kids (Elli - 9.19, Patrick 10.1 and Mary 10.10), Elli's Baptism, and a birthday for me! Patrick has his first Guitar recital this on 9.19 also. Amy has been asked to speak at a National Realtor Conference in Maui in October (I get to be a beach bum). We also have the National MBA convention in SF in October.

On a more serious note, our Sister-In-Law, Michelle Firth (John's wife) was diagnosed this weekend with a brain tumor. She will have surgery next week (will remove 75% of the tumor the size of an orange) and then start chemo and radiation. You can keep up to-date on her progress at FirthFacts.blogspot.com. Please keep John, Michelle and their four sons in your prayers.

Be Safe!
