For Maria

This is an update to my blog is for Maria who said it was feeling lonely.

We are in UT for Thanksgiving and will be having dinner with Maria's friend Dawn. Patrick & Mary are in Iowa and Elli is in AZ with her Dad.

Patrick was in his Advanced Drama Class Play last week. He was the "Lead Nerd" in the play, School for Nerds. He did a great job. Wore one of my old Bow Ties and these huge reading glasses we picked up for him. It was very good.

A Week at the Firth Spa & Resort

I am back from a week at the Firth Spa & Resort, um.....working in Utah. When I go to Utah, I stay at Ralph and Kathryn's and they treat me like a King. It is so much better than a hotel (king sized bed, cool basement, no lines, great food and I get to see everyone). Unfortunately the cold I brought back from Utah a week earlier went with me to Salt Lake City. Ralph was getting it while I was there and now Amy has it also. Did I tell you that on Friday morning when I was getting ready to leave, Ralph and Kathryn had eggs, French Toast, fresh fruit and bacon for me??? Life is good at the Firth Spa (though a little hard on the waist line)!

While in Utah, I got to help Dave get Kirk up and running on his new BlackBerry. I got to see Colton's JV football game (Never seen a football game played on a field with no lines) and got to hang out with Anders, Jackson and Megan and her new boy Baxter (he is going to be a lot of Dog). I also got to see the "Thing" they took out of Melissa - YUCK! Unfortunately I was one week early so I won't get to be there on Wednesday went Britton gets his Mission Call.

The Friday before I left for UT, Mary and I attended Patrick's first Guitar recital. It was very good. He played Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. He did great. I went to load the video I took of Patrick playing and found out that Patrick deleted it by mistake.......Amy and Elli did not get to attend because they were cleaning up after Elli's 8th Birthday Party, which she held with her friend Alden at Alden's house. Alden and Elli share the same Birthday.

This week Patrick turns 14 on the 1st. He got a couple of books, a couple of games for the Wii and a new guitar strap. We will also go to breakfast at the Iowa Cafe on Wednesday morning.

Mary has her first piano recital on Oct. 3rd. Then on the 10th, Mary will turn 11. She will be joined this year by Ralph, Kathryn and Megan. They will be here for Elli's Baptism, which is on Saturday October 11th.

As you all know the mortgage finance industry is in a bit of a mess. As a result, Amy is in a bit of transition. Her current company is evaluating their options for going forward and as a result, so is Amy. Lucky, given her stature in the industry, she has many options. Some other good news is she sold her investment property in Whittman, which is a big weight off her shoulders.

Hope all is well. Keep John & Michelle in your prayers.

Oodles of Odles

So, I would write a long entry but just check out my Sister-In-Laws Blog - Oodlesofoldes.blogspot.com (or just click the link on the right) to see what has been going on with the Harrigan's! It has been a busy, but very blessed end of summer.

Coming up are birthday's for all three kids (Elli - 9.19, Patrick 10.1 and Mary 10.10), Elli's Baptism, and a birthday for me! Patrick has his first Guitar recital this on 9.19 also. Amy has been asked to speak at a National Realtor Conference in Maui in October (I get to be a beach bum). We also have the National MBA convention in SF in October.

On a more serious note, our Sister-In-Law, Michelle Firth (John's wife) was diagnosed this weekend with a brain tumor. She will have surgery next week (will remove 75% of the tumor the size of an orange) and then start chemo and radiation. You can keep up to-date on her progress at FirthFacts.blogspot.com. Please keep John, Michelle and their four sons in your prayers.

Be Safe!

End of Summer

I spent last week in Colorado seeing customers and attending the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association. The conference was held, as always, in Vail.

It just so happens that PigBoy and his family were staying in Breckenridge and BoBo and his family were staying in Beaver Creek. Lang, was also out there to crew for some folks from Des Moines were doing the Leadville Trail 100 (Way to go Mables!). So we all met at the Pope's Bike Shop (Mountain Peddlers) and went for some lunch in Minturn. It is amazing how Pig's and BoBo's babies have grown!! It was good to see everyone - makes me realize how much I miss them.

As I got updates from Lang on Saturday on how everyone was doing at Leadville, it made me want to do Leadville a fourth time.....but not for long. The thought of the climb back up Power Line just scares me!

The kids all start School tomorrow. Patrick will be in 8th Grade at Fremont Jr. High. Mary will be in 5th Grade at Noah Webster Basic School and Elli will be in 2nd grade at Rancho Solano. Man it was a short summer (two months is all they get these days - have to have time for all those days off for in services days......). This fall will be busy - Patrick will be in Drama and will continue with his guitar and voice lessons. Mary will take dance, piano, go to the vision clinic and do an after school art program. Elli will continue with her piano lessons and will be starting gymnastics.

While the real estate market around the country continues to be a mess, Amy is as busy as ever. All her public speaking the past three years is paying off with agents reaching out to her to help their clients. She has also been on both the NBC and CBS affiliates recently talking about the recently passed Housing Bill. Now if we could only sell a few houses of ours.....

Work goes well for me. Just continue to grind it out in this very interesting market. It truly is a roller coaster ride. While I had a great July for fundings, my locks were off from my high in June. Though, July did finished on a positive note and August has started off well.

I am even getting a few rides in on the weeks I am home. I found some good mountain bike trails by our house that I can ride. I have also started to ride my mountain bike with a couple of guys from Church and have a couple of customers who I am going to do weekly rides with also.

Hope all is well. Be Safe!

I thought I would add some updated family pictures to the blog.

This is Patrick in his Jr High School Play. He was First Mate!

This is Tonx, the new addition to the family.

This the five of us in front of the Grand Tetons on the way to Yellowstone.

This Amy and I tying the knot last Nov. 17th. Patrick was my Best Man and the Girls were the Maids of Honor.

Forgot about this!

Surprised my friend PigBoy has not harassed me for not updating my Blog in 12 months. Since the last blog update, I quit drinking, started working for Franklin American Mortgage as a Regional Account Manager and got married to Amy Swaney.

We are just back from a seven day cruise to the Western Caribbean. It was great.

Our Kids are great. We are heading up to Utah with them on Friday to visit Amy's family and to hang out at our place outside of Park City (and hopefully get a few bike rides in!).

More Latter!
